High school and undergraduate supportEngage Indiana is a new effort to reach out to high school students with information and activities related to information technology finance supply chain management global leadership and other promising fields. Students who continue their studies in the UIndy School of Business will receive ongoing support services to help them complete their degrees develop professional skills and launch their careers through internships cooperative learning programs and professional networking. Career services for nontraditional studentsA substation of the university?s Office of Career Services will focus on employment opportunities for older students who have returned to higher education because of job loss or a desire to redirect or advance their careers. This substation will be housed within UIndy?s School for Adult Learning which offers accelerated bachelor?s degree programs for nontraditional students. SAL also will evaluate the feasibility of offering the state?s first certified bachelor?s program in Health Care Administration. Alumni feedbackUIndy will engage alumni in evaluating how well the university?s curricular and co-curricular programs prepare students for the workforce. Special attention will be paid to the processes by which graduates ultimately find employment as well as their preferences and decisions about work location and geographic mobility.

WorkSource Columbia Basin kicks off a series of free workshops Dec. 4 that are designed to fine-tune personal skills and also put those seeking jobs on a career path said Candice Bluechel business services outreach manager for WorkSource. Columbia Basin College has been doing that throughout the fall quarter for students and those looking to be retrained for jobs said Daphne Lightfoot director of student employment services. The college redesigned its career development program to include workshops that help jump-start success in job search especially in today’s competitive environment she said. 3 Josh Thatcher attended a special workshop at CBC to learn about the hot jobs in the Tri-Cities. Thatcher a high school senior who will graduate with an associate’s degree from Columbia Basin College next year wanted to know about possible job options.
