We may see effects more next spring… We may see effects more next spring. “Michigan State University’s Collegiate Employment Research Institute’s annual report says hiring for graduates at all degree levels will decrease by 8 percent compared to 2007 according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. “In two short years we have moved from a zenith of exuberant and aggressive college hiring through a period of cautious optimism to a place of quiet desperation” the report said. The institute’s survey notes three types of employers are keeping the college labor market from collapsing entirely. Among them are global companies that compete internationally and still are vying for the most talented new hires.

According to officials of the EGMM companieslike Air India have about 15 per cent reservation quota for SC and ST candidatesin various departments. For several years these were not filled assuitable candidates were not to be found. “To become an air hostess candidates shouldhave at least completed their graduation which is very rare among SC and STwomen from rural areas.

“We’ve been extremely busy” John Shaw manager of the Taunton Career Center said Wednesday. A Career Center in an earlier era was referred to as an unemployment office. Its purpose continues to be to help people find employment and to assist companies find workers. Now they also offer free Internet access and classroom instruction for preparing for an interview and writing a résumé. Shaw attributed the recent surge in people looking for work to a number of companies in the area having reduced their workforce as they continue to cope with an ever more difficult economy. The office of labor and workforce development also reported there are now approximately 3275200 jobs in the state a drop of 10700 from one year ago.
