The Stride Center is a nonprofit social enterprise that prepares its adult students for careers in information technology. Disadvantaged men and women come to learn new skills through a variety of programs helping them achieve their goals of finding well-paying vibrant new careers.

Careers Fair 2009 offers employment opportunities

The fair will allow visitors to have their questions answered directly by the experts. They can also compare what’s on offer and learn how to plan for their futures. Job seekers will also be able to get to know the latest employment trends and learn what kinds of skilled professionals the country will need in the next decade. Exhibitors including employers universities colleges and other agencies will provide the visitors with all the information they seek. Gulf News will be participating in the fair with the aim of attracting young job seekers to the interactive field of media and communication. The exhibition is organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre in collaboration with Tanmia Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP) Higher Colleges of Technology Zayed University and UAE University.

Like many she quickly learned otherwise. She visited the Career Center and took training classes like the Job Club that showed her what she was doing wrong with her resume and interviewing techniques. It was the training she received at the hands of Senior Employment Specialist Marilyn ffer and others that helped her secure her office manager job at Kool Smiles Homen said. “With over 30 years of experience I thought I knew it all thought my resume was impeccable but Marilyn ffer set me straight and pushed me in the right direction” Homen said. Homen is now looking to fill some holes in her own staff with the very same Career Center that helped her. She’s already hired one dental assistant and is looking for a few more as well as an experienced office manager for their Brockton location a post that has already secured 15 resumes Homen said. “They’re really helping to sort through the resumes to make sure we just don’t get just anybody for the job or get overwhelmed” Homen said.
