Pop the bubbly (but not right before your interview). A scheduled interview means your resume is a success. Put the juicy stuff on page one of a multi-page resume. Your 'experience' section is the prime real estate and should be half or more of a one page resume. It doesn't matter how you acquired such valuable skills--just mention that you have them.
Last but not the least, it only takes thirty to forty five minutes of your time in the morning and it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg to look well groomed. Most of all you don't have to be a beauty queen to be well groomed.
If you feel good about yourself, your attitude towards people and your work will be better. If you feel good on the outside, you'll feel good on the inside.
It really tells about how you manage your time well because in spite of your hectic schedule, you can manage to look presentable.
Reread the list several times a week, keep adding to it as you remember skills, read it before every interview or employer contact. You have multiple layers of value as a significant other, a parent, a brother or sister, a child, a friend, a community worker. List out each area as a reminder that not finding a job does not mean that you are worthless. You have specific job skills which have been acquired in all of your previous work experience. The world may not seem to need you right now but it is important that you know your own worth and stop buying into that sense of incompetency and despair that prolonged unemployment (caused by economic and political forces, not by you personally) can produce.
Or try using a font like Garamond instead of Times New Roman. Or reduce the size of your text font to 10 point (but no smaller. Or try using a condensed font such as Weissach Condensed. Change the top, side, and bottom margins to as little as one half inch if appearance permits. If an employer wants references, he will ask for them anyway.
After identifying a potential employer, I get contact information, do my research and send out my resume and cover letter, requesting an interview for a management or human resource position. I offer one-to-one consultations on career strategy. And sometimes it's nice to have someone who can hold a flashlight when you're groping around in the dark. Finally, choose a networking group with a leader who knows the score and promises to provide fearless feedback. You may be reluctant to hire a coach or career counselor because one-to-one guidance doesn't come cheap.
I have no regrets that I tried things that I didn't end up staying with long-term. I had careers and jobs that suited me at particular times in my life. When I was in
my 30's and 40's, making my mark, earning a big salary, having a 4 -window office
with a view and a title were important. Now, I could care less about those things. Job satisfaction, making my own schedule, doing work that I love-those are the
factors that drive me now.
It will prove to be a valuable tool in helping you to get the job interview that will lead to the right job. If the skill or experience is not inlcuded in your resume because you have edited your resume down to one or two pages then vital skills that may get you interviewed are missing. It cannot be too long if the IT Technical Skills Summary includes the skills that you have acquired over the course of your career. You need to present your skills so that employers and recruiters know that you have them. The number of pages required will depend on how long you have been working and how many skills you have acquired.
Do this and increase your chances of landing that interview. Many positions have an educational requirement that some people have not achieved. This again brings us to marketing yourself. Showcase, through your resume, that you have the skills and knowledge to succeed at the position they are trying to fill. Education, or lack of, is a tougher hurdle to overcome.
You may be surprised at the progress you can make by being open to others' thoughts and suggestions. A good friend, mentor, or career coach will be able to help you through your resistance. If you find that you are resistant to change, it may be because your purpose isn't clear, you fear failure (or success), and/or you lack trust in your own ability to make decisions that are in your best interest. Listen and participate in the discussion and buy into it, no matter how crazy you think the idea is. Regardless if you choose to work with a friend, mentor, or career coach, you should be open to new ideas.
Even if you have little to add in the way of content, you can always improve your resume by refocusing it on the specifics of the position you are seeking, and by strengthening its wording and overall appearance. Take on the task of writing or revising your resume with the conviction that any resume can be made stronger, that you have an important employment proposal to bring to the eyes of potential employers, and that doing so can be the avenue for landing the job you want. Above all, your resume should be revised so that it is tailored to the employer who will receive it. Perhaps you have gained insights into what employers are really looking for in your line of work. Just about any resume, even one used with success before, can benefit from careful scrutiny and periodic revision.
It lounges in an empty chair as you crawl through another desultory interview. Let it work for you, not against you and you have not only tamed the beast but have created a more enjoyable and positive environment for yourself. Your self-doubts will always linger but they are at a manageable level where you can calmly push them into the background while you concentrate on making a great self-presentation. Look at it as your best personal source of camaraderie, loyalty, and friendly support. Have your anxiety stay close to you, forcing you to be aware of your surroundings and ready to express your thoughts and feelings to a potential employer with enthusiasm and energy.

and why you'd like to work for them. Follow up several days later
and ask for the individual. Tell them you're checking to see that

I had a client who wrote his ideal job description and actually brought it on an interview. What does personal and financial freedom look like to you? What does it REALLY look like to you? It's very important to not think about how you are going to do it, just think about what you want. Remember, if you only desire what is, you can't create beyond that. Start noticing how you let these things take your energy and change it today. The only control you have is how you perceive things.
